Tricia & Tom

Tricia & Tom

Although Tricia and Tom are leaving Philly to follow their dream of living by the beach, they want the next owners of their beloved home in Washington Square West to see just how special this place really is. Here’s the story of 734 Rodman Street!

How would you describe your personal interior design style?

Tricia: Serene and simple - for our busy family I like a calm backdrop

Tom: I don't have a great sense of style, but Trish does!

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?

Tricia: September by Earth Wind Fire. We got married on the 21st night of September. Can’t not dance when it comes on.

Tom: Trenchtown Rock.

How would you describe your neighborhood?

Tricia: Perfect!! Everything is just a few blocks away - grocery stores, top restaurants, coffee shops, schools, parks and playgrounds, shops, and doctors. I walked two blocks to the hospital to give birth to both kids.

Tom: Wonderful, you can walk everywhere. Easy to get to so many neighborhoods on foot, and so many parks for playing with the kids and picnics.

What was your non-negotiable when it came to finding your dream home?

Tricia: Being at the beach! Philly has our heart but we’re chasing a dream we’ve had for 15 years, to live by the ocean.

What's your favorite room? Why?

Tricia: Our family room, which is so warm and inviting. We have so many great memories of being together and hosting friends and family in that room.

Tom: The living room. It is where we have had so many good times. But if I could choose our backyard, I would. Not a room, but we spend so much time out there eating meals, playing with water balloons, dancing. It is our little oasis.

What is one thing you need in your home to make it yours?

Tricia: Cats.

Tom: Music.

What makes you (or your family) laugh?

Tricia: Once Will and Bea start cracking each other up, it’s impossible not to join.

Tom: Our cat, Bo, his nickname is Kramer.

If you could throw a theme party in your house, what would be the theme?

Tricia: Pirate. We’re going on 2 years of a pirate obsession for the 5 year old, so every party is pirate themed.

Tom: PIRATES!

A day spent running around the neighborhood: what's your first stop and last stop?

Tricia: First: oat milk matcha latte at Three Graces. Last: glass of wine at La Caveau before coming home to relieve the sitter

Tom: Washington Square for a picnic, Bahn Mi and Bottles for dinner out

How has your home changed from move-in day?

Tricia: We built out an office before the pandemic, which has of course proved extremely helpful for remote work. It also serves as our art room and music room - such a great flex space.

Tom: The office is way better!

What's your favorite memory of your home?

Tricia: Bringing home our babies from the hospital. When I think back on introducing Will to his baby sister on our front stoop: instant tears.

Tom: Dancing with the kids.

What was the catalyst to you purchasing a new home?

Tricia: We’re ready for a new adventure living at the beach!

Tom: We've thought about moving to the beach for a long time. We LOVE Philly, but the stars aligned so we had to jump on it.

What's your favorite piece of Philly culture?

Tricia: Philly has the perks of a large city but feels like a small town - being able to walk the neighborhood and run into friends every day has been such a treat.

Tom: The parks and how they really are used as a gathering place. The DiBruno Bros open air lot in the Italian market is a great example we use all the time with friends.
