How would you describe your personal interior design style?
Mid Century Modern, Scandinavian, touches of old world English charm / vintage items.
If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?
"Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver.
How would you describe your neighborhood?
Family friendly, diverse, walkable, green space, and a neighborhood where everyone looks out for one another.
If you could use your house as the setting for a remake of a movie, which movie would it be?
In Her Shoes.
What was your non- negotiable when it came to finding your dream home?
The home had to have "real" outside space and this home nailed it! The front garden offers so much privacy and beauty and the backyard was a blank canvas to create a true urban oasis.
What's your favorite room? Why?
All of them, but specifically the bathrooms and the backyard. The bathrooms were a labor of love and allowed us to really put our stamp on this home. The powder room is a nod to the time period this home was built - the 1920's - and it has a speakeasy vibe. The main bathroom feels like a spa retreat and it's easy to spend extra time in there at the end of a long day. The backyard has become our oasis in the city, allowing us an opportunity to grow our own food, have green space for the dog, and an area to entertain and have a good old fashioned campfire on those cool spring and fall evenings.
What is one thing you need in your home to make it yours?
It's not a thing but more of feeling - you just know when you know.
What makes you (or your family) laugh?
Watching our girls explore every inch of our home.
If you could throw a theme party in your house, what would be the theme?
Mad Men.
A day spent running around the neighborhood: what's your first stop and last stop?
First stop, Brown Street Coffee for a Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Bahn Mi. Next, one of the many local playgrounds or parks. For lunch, maybe a quick sandwich at RyBrew. Then come home to hang in the backyard. For dinner, either Bar Hygge or Umai Umai Sushi. Then our nextdoor neighbor would come babysit and we'd go for a nightcap at Crime and Punishment Brewery.
How has your home changed from move-in day?
Everything! Almost every square inch of this home has been renovated, painted, or customized to make it functional, comfortable, and practical for modern city living.
What's your favorite memory of your home?
This was the first home I purchased and the first home we welcomed our little girls into.
What was the catalyst to you purchasing a new home?
Relocation for a job opportunity and having twins!
What's your favorite piece of Philly culture?
The food, no question!
