The journey of Edgemont street has meant a lot to Jana and Steph. After small cosmetic upgrades, a full fledged kitchen renovation and a neighborhood that has become family, their need for space for their growing family has led them to a spacious home with a backyard in Collingswood. But the memories here are forever cherished. Watching Addie grow into a comical genius - don’t knock this until you hear her animal impersonations. Grabbing an ice cream cone to round out their Sunday running errands around Port Richmond. Seeing their animals scurry through all three floors of the house. Here’s the story of 2834 Edgemont. How would you describe your personal interior design style?
A mix of new and mid-century modern
How would you describe your neighborhood?
Our block is very tight-knit. The neighbors are always looking out for and helping one another. There are constantly new bars, restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance popping up. Our toddler loved the newly renovated playground that's just a few blocks away.
What was your non-negotiable when it came to finding your dream home?
A kitchen is comparable to our beautiful Port Richmond home.
What's your favorite room? Why?
Kitchen! We tore it down to the studs/floorboards, combined two smaller rooms, and made it our dream kitchen. That is the room we socialize in. We love all the space we have to cook.
What is one thing you need in your home to make it yours?
Our pets and comfy bed.
What makes you (or your family) laugh?
Our funny toddler cracks us up everyday making animal noises
If you could throw a theme party in your house, what would be the theme?
Charcuterie- our kitchen island becomes the charcuterie board!
A day spent running around the neighborhood: what's your first stop and last stop?
First stop: riverwards cafe or lil Susie's for coffee and a pastry. Last stop: somerset splits for a cone.
How has your home changed from move-in day?
The kitchen and basement were remodeled. We gave the exterior a facelift.
What's your favorite memory of your home?
Dancing to the Beatles in the kitchen on Sunday mornings
What was the catalyst to you purchasing a new home?
We wanted room for our family to grow. Our new home in Collingswood has a huge yard for Addie and Bellini (our pup) to run around in.
What's your favorite piece of Philly culture?
We love going to outdoor movies and all of the great food.
