For Alexis Ryan, Yamela Duran, and Yasmin Duran, Barre Body Pilates began with something simple: a shared passion for health, wellness, and movement.
The three working mothers first connected as gym partners. Their workouts gave them more than a chance to exercise. Those 45 minutes together also became time to talk about life, work, parenting, and everything in between. Over time, they began imagining a place that could offer that same kind of outlet to other people.
They also saw a need close to home. Living locally, they wanted to create a studio in the Riverton area where people could feel comfortable walking through the door, whether they were longtime fitness enthusiasts or just beginning their wellness journey.
That idea became Barre Body Pilates, a boutique Pilates and fitness studio offering heated and non heated Mat Pilates, Sculpt, and Barre classes. The studio was designed around thoughtful programming, expert instruction, and an atmosphere that feels welcoming and approachable.
For the founders, one of the most rewarding parts of opening the studio has been watching other people discover the same feelings about movement that initially brought them together. They wanted Barre Body Pilates to be somewhere people actually looked forward to going, not only for a workout, but for a chance to clear their minds, connect with others, and step away from the demands of everyday life for a little while.
That sense of community continues to shape what comes next. The team is currently working on incorporating strength training and events into the studio, expanding the ways people can move and spend time together.
And when they are not at the studio? Their favorite local meal is just around the corner at Juanita’s.
